The Advocacy Round table put on the agenda the pressing need to outline the responsibilities and the role of the state institutions, the local authorities and the NGOs in the process of reception, adaptation and integration of reallocated refugees.

The aim is to provide an opportunity to discuss all aspects of the access to the labour market, to bring out the challenges, and to outline the existing and planned activities for expanding the opportunities for access to employment of beneficiaries of international protection in Bulgaria.

The intention is, following the Round Table, to prepare proposals for unifying the definition of “vulnerable asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection”, and to outline the capacity of each of the organizations to participate in the process and to bring out the problem areas and challenges in preparation of the National Mechanism for identification of the vulnerable asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection.

The conference was held under the auspices of the H.E.Ms.Margarita Popova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The aim of the conference was, in view of the prospects for the coming years, based on the existing strategic documents, legislation and practice to discuss the measures, activities and partnerships to improve the quality and effectiveness of the integration of refugees in Bulgaria.

Invitations were extended to representatives of relevant government institutions, international organizations, local authorities, NGOs and refugee assisting organizations in Bulgaria.

The aim of the Round Table was to discuss access to housing for persons granted refugee or humanitarian status, as well as the cooperation between state institutions, local authorities and NGOs to improve the quality and efficiency of services.

The Round Table was attended by experts from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Ministry of Public Works and Regional Development, the State Agency for Refugees with the Council of Ministers, the Agency for Social Assistance, the Agency for Child Protection, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria, NGOs and refugees organizations.

Program: Partnership for Access to Housing for Beneficiaries of International Protection in Bulgaria

The aim of the seminar was to discuss the achievements and challenges related to the educational integration of refugee children in Bulgaria in accordance with the international commitments and responsibilities of the country as a Member State of the European Union. The seminar provided a forum for the participants to share opportunities and measures to improve the integration of refugee children in the Bulgarian education system.

Textbooks, aids, programs and tests for training refugee children, developed under UNHCR and the European Integration Fund Projects were presented at the meeting.

Invitations for participation were extended to principals and teachers from 10 secondary schools in and outside Sofia, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Regional Inspectorate in Sofia and NGOs.
